PRE-COP SUMMIT 2023

TRANSITION FINANCE: THE NEED FOR A NEW PARADIGM

CHAMPIONING TRANSITION FINANCE FOR THE PLANET’S FUTURE

Please join us in Berlin on 2 November 2023 for the DZ BANK Pre-COP summit CHAMPIONING TRANSITION FINANCE FOR THE PLANET’S FUTURE.

In 2015, the world agreed in Paris to limit global warming to 1.5°C compared to pre-industrial levels by 2050. We are at a halfway point now. It has been 7 years since COP21, with 7 years to go to 2030.

It will still be a long and rocky road, and not achieved with only large corporates committing to transition plans. We need to reduce emissions by 43% by 2030 and there is no net zero without SME transition finance.

Though each SME has a relatively small individual environmental and carbon footprint, their combined emissions are substantial. This necessitates a scaling up innovative financing tools to allow SMEs to play a more active role through global capital markets financing.

In the run up to the 28th UN Climate Change Conference DZ BANK and UN ECE are once again joining forces hosting a high-level event to discuss how to rethink, reboot, and refocus the climate finance agenda.

The one-day Pre-COP conference will create momentum on climate action and discuss the role global financial markets have in promoting transition finance. The conference will gather international and national experts from financial institutions, multilateral development banks, UN, government, and business, advancing a new paradigm for transition finance.
